Assembled is a “starting nine” of vintage and turn-of-the-century baseball team photographs and postcards. This gathering includes town squads, Ivy League teams and major league clubs. The majority of these ephemera are postcards, although some larger 7x8 images are included. 1.) turn-of-the century town team sepia-toned postcard. This artifact contains scrapbook residue on the reverse along with paper loss and grades (FR); 2.) late 1800s Princeton baseball squad original 5x7 photograph. The reverse reveals a Culver Pictures loan stamp while the surface contains notching and other significant wear (GD); 3.) dated 1895 Yale baseball team original 7x8 photograph. The reverse reveals a Culver Service loan stamp along with glue residue and paper addition. The image contains a vintage pencil notation describing the date and team. The upper left corner is clipped and minor creasing is found throughout; 4.) dated 1897 Yale outfield oval photo montage. This approximately 8x3 homemade artifact reveals some ink smearing; 5.) early 1900s town/company team cabinet. This black and white photograph is framed by a textured brown matte. Aside from moderate matte chipping, this relic grades (GD to VG) with a light pencil mark on the reverse; 6.) dated 1905 Stroudsburg Baseball team postcard. This postally used and addressed example contains writing on the front and reverse, grading (FR); 7.) mid-to-late 1900s town/company postcard. This unused black and white postcard is sharp and grades (VG-EX); 8.) circa 1910s Western Bloomer Girls unused postcards. This ephemera displays moderate edge wear and creasing, grading (GD) and 9.) dated 1936 postcard sized team photograph. This blank back and unused example reveals significant surface wear and grades (FR-GD).
