The offered pair of 1950s-1970s boxing publications is a fascinating glimpse into the early careers of Cassius Clay, Sugar Ray Leonard and other greats. Dated 5/25/59 in conjunction with the Golden Gloves Intercity Bouts at Chicago Stadium, the first program features teenager Cassius Clay on page 24. The 32-page program grades (GD) with a combination of flaws including extensive creasing, loose binding, soiling, and pencil markings on the inner page. This program possibly could have belonged to fighter Bill Hollis, as a circle caption reads “Me” on page 25. Also present is a dated 9/28/76 Ali vs. Norton program (GD) signed by five pugilists including Leonard (“9”, 76) and Louis (d.1981, “9”) on page 13. The Leonard and Louis signatures are accompanied by GAI certification cards. However, the autographs as a whole come with an auction LOA from James Spence Authentications.
