The 1939 New York Yankees was the only team in franchise history to outscore its opposition by more than 400 runs. It was also a year of transition, as the pinstripers bid farewell to Gehrig and further integrated DiMaggio, Gomez and Ruffing into the lineup. This 1939 New York Yankees team-signed baseball contains (11) signatures, featuring all of the Hall of Fame talent. Penned on a weathered green and red-stitched Higgins Boys Official ball (4, worn sweet spot, year identified on east panel), each endorsement is signed in period blue ink. Signatories include West Panel: Gehrig (d.1941, 8), Selkirk (d.1987, 8); East Panel: Dickey (d.1993, 7); North Panel: Ruffing (d.1986, 5), Pearson (d.1978, 6), W. Ferrell (d.1976, 6), Keller (d.1990, 5), Crosetti (d.2002, 6); South Panel: Gomez (d.1989, 7), DiMaggio (d.1999, 6) and Gallagher (clubhouse). With exception to Gallagher, the remaining autographs come with an auction LOA from James Spence Authentications.
