The original Baltimore Orioles franchise in the last decade of the nineteenth-century contained some of the finest players in the early era of baseball. Under the tutelage of Ned Hanlon, Hall of Famers such as Jennings, Keeler, Kelley, McGraw and Wilbert Robinson led the ball club to three consecutive National League pennants from 1894 through 1896. Presented is an 1896 Hyatt Mfg. Co 1-11/16” pinback that celebrates the club’s last championship of the 1800s and grades (VG-EX). This black-and-white celluloid pin features a full team lineup of the eighteen gentlemen who pioneered the “Baltimore chop” and contains a few minor surface abrasions on the front. The reverse paper Hyatt back shows a significant amount of staining and noticeable paper loss. The reverse metal rim is moderately rusted.
