Description

Presented is a rare and interesting scorecard/program from a game pitting the Chicago Cubs against the Chicago White Sox. Both teams were at the top of their respective divisions when the game was played in 1909, making this relic one of the earliest city-series grudge games on record. The “Hitless Wonders” beat the Cubs in the 1906 World Series, and there was bad blood between the two squads. The program is in generally VG-EX condition with a strong binding and only light soiling. The interior pages are in excellent shape and feature images of many Hall of Famers including Spalding, B. Johnson, Walsh, Tinker, Evers and Chance. Ed Walsh faced Ed Reulbach in the game, and the scorecard is marked. The cover features a pair of bears, the 10-cent price and ”Chicago Championship Series, Cubs vs Sox, 1909” in the center.
